Are we really independent?

Its been 70 years since india has won its independence.
But are we really independent? Or atleast are the women of india independent in today's world?
Considering the fact that,2 in every 10 women are raped in india,its ideal and necessery that
women should not be allowed to walk alone even in their own street after late evening.
Being a women myself,if worried about  my own safety,even i would consider prevention is better than cure by not letting myself go alone anywhere by the late evening or maby even anytime of the day in cities like Delhi and Mumbai.
But Let me ask a question to the people of India,
Arent the wrong doers ment to be punished and locked up for their sins?
Dint our holy books,and teachers say that the wrong doers are the ones ment to be punished.
So why not lock up Men or even spoiled teenage boys after 6 in the evening to prevent acts such as rapes,molestation etc,Instead of women who are being raped and torchured being locked up in their room,and snatching  their freedom away.
Doesnt that make sence?
We punish the killer by locking him up in the jail,and obviously not the victim.
Our country must change when it comes to respecting women or even women safety.
Nowadays Bollywood movies started depicting,women chasing boys and what not!?
Without the second thought,Bollywood and Media in general plays a huge role in influencing the young generation,So obviously the youth growing up watching these films find it totally normal to lust over the opposite gender.
Its such a shame that even today, half of the population of the educated lot dont even know the exact difference between equality and feminism.
Media and the newspapers in india are always flooding with headlines related to nothing but, the Relationship status of the greatest people in india "The Bollywood movie stars".
Sarcasm? Yes!
Who is dating whom? Or who is the hottest actress as of 2017?
Every child is updated with the newest bollywood release and not the  current status of ISRO.
Every citizen,no matter what the gender is has the responsibility towards making india a better nation,whether it be producing a better  youth or women safety.
It begins at home,from our parents in treating a son and a daughter equally.
Lets strive to make India a better nation,being a part of the youth population,i think most of the changes could be achieved by making atleast some behaviour improvements.
